Dubai Courts organises its own service around subjects such as property, vehicles, inheritance, marriage and company matters. Our work is the same across all of them, and each stage below has its own page.
Drafting the deed
We write the authority you want to give, in wording that matches what the receiving authority will accept. A general form only covers acts of management.
Legal translation into Arabic
The deed has to be in Arabic. We provide translation by a legal translator registered with the Ministry of Justice, and check the Arabic against your instructions.
Document checks before the appointment
We read every passport, Emirates ID, title deed and trade licence you are relying on, and tell you what is missing before you book a slot.
Attending the notary appointment
We go with you, in person or by virtual attendance where the service allows it, and answer the notary’s questions about the wording we drafted.
Attestation of a foreign power of attorney
A deed signed abroad needs the issuing country’s foreign ministry, the UAE mission there, then MOFAIC here. We map the chain and prepare the file.
Cancelling a power of attorney
You may revoke at any time under Article 898, with limited exceptions. We draft the revocation and handle notice to the agent, because the timing of that notice matters.
Where our notary services fit
We are lawyers and legal consultants. The ratification is carried out before a notary public. Notarial duties in the UAE are reserved by law to public notaries, private notaries and accredited UAE consuls, and in Dubai notaries public sit under Dubai Courts. The signature on your deed is witnessed and ratified by one of them.
That split is the reason to use us. A typing centre can fill in a form. It cannot tell you that an authority written in general terms grants only acts of management, or that anything beyond management and preservation needs a special agency naming the act. We give you professional legal advice, and the notary gives the deed its official character.
How we work on a power of attorney
Four stages, in the same order every time. You will know what the next step is before you agree to anything.

We take your instructions
We ask what you need the agent to do, where the deed will be used and who will rely on it. That decides whether the authority is general or special, and how tightly it has to be worded. Nothing is drafted until that is settled.

We draft and translate
A lawyer writes the deed, then a legal translator registered with the Ministry of Justice puts it into Arabic. Instruments must be in Arabic, and in Dubai a foreign language document is accepted only with a certified Arabic translation, both versions signed. You see both texts before anything is filed.

We check the file
The notary has to verify identity from an Emirates ID, passport or other official document, and has to be satisfied about capacity and consent. We check those papers first, along with the title deed, trade licence or certificate the subject of the deed depends on, so you are not missing something at the counter.

We attend the ratification
The notary reads the content out to the parties and explains its effects before signing. We are there while that happens, so any question about the wording is answered by the person who drafted it. If an interpreter is needed, we raise it before the session, not during it.
Why use a legal practice for this
A power of attorney is a grant of authority over your money, your property or your case. What a power of attorney lawyer adds is the wording that decides how far that authority reaches.
A general form does less than you think
An agency expressed in general terms, without specifying what is intended, grants only the power to perform acts of management. If you meant your agent to sell, mortgage, settle or plead in court, the deed has to say so. We write to the act, not to a template.
We work from the law that is in force
Agency now sits in Federal Decree-Law 25/2025, at Articles 866 to 903. A great deal of published material still cites Article 955 of the 1985 Civil Transactions Law, which has been repealed. Advice built on a repealed article is not advice. We check citations before they reach your deed.
We tell you what we cannot promise
We do not control the notary’s decision, the queue at a service centre or what a receiving authority abroad will accept. Where the answer depends on someone else, we say so plainly at the start instead of discovering it on the day. That is part of the advice, not a caveat buried at the end.
The same people see it through
The drafting, the Arabic, the document check and the appointment are handled by the same people. Nothing is passed to a translator who has not read the instructions, and no one turns up at the counter having seen the file for the first time that morning.

Government fees, and what is ours
Government fees are published, so you can check them. Under the federal schedule, execution or notarisation of a general or special power of attorney is AED 100 per party, and notarising a translation included in the instrument is AED 50 per page. MOFAIC attestation is AED 150 for individual affairs documents and AED 2,000 for commercial documents. Dubai Courts publishes its own schedule, which we confirm before you commit.

Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most often on this one.
Do you notarise the power of attorney yourselves?
No. Notarial duties in the UAE are reserved to public notaries, private notaries and accredited UAE consuls, and in Dubai notaries public sit under Dubai Courts. We draft the deed, translate it, check the supporting documents and attend the appointment. The ratification is done by the notary in front of you.
Do I have to attend in person?
The default in federal law is that the parties appear before the notary in person, but the same law allows information technology tools to replace personal appearance. The Dubai Courts power of attorney service verifies capacity and eligibility by virtual or personal attendance. Which route is open to you depends on the service and the subject, so we confirm it first.
Does my power of attorney have to be in Arabic?
Yes. The instrument drafted by the notary must be in Arabic. In Dubai, a foreign language document is accepted only with a translation by a certified translator, and both versions are signed by the parties. Documents going to the Dubai Courts service must be translated by a legal translator approved by the Ministry of Justice.
How long is a power of attorney valid?
There is no general statutory validity period. An agency ends when the work is completed, when the term written into it expires, or on the death or loss of capacity of either party. Separately, the Dubai Land Department tightened its acceptance rules for property deals in 2025, and legal commentary on Circular 29/R/2025 reports a two year limit there.
I signed a power of attorney abroad. Can I use an apostille?
No. The UAE is not a contracting party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no apostille route into the country. A deed signed abroad has to be attested by the foreign ministry of the issuing country, then by the UAE embassy or consulate there, then by MOFAIC in the UAE.
Can you cancel a power of attorney I already gave?
We can draft and handle the revocation. The principal may revoke or restrict the agent’s authority at any time, unless the agency involves a right of a third party or was issued in the agent’s interest. Revoking at an inappropriate time or without acceptable justification can give rise to compensation, so we check that before filing.
What does the appointment cost?
Under the federal schedule, execution or notarisation of a general or special power of attorney is AED 100 per party, and notarising a translation included in the instrument is AED 50 per page. Dubai Courts publishes its own fee schedule, which we confirm against the current page before you go. Our own fee is separate and is quoted in writing first.

Anything outside management and preservation needs a special agency naming the act, for example sale, mortgage, settlement, acknowledgement, arbitration or pleading before the court.
